AYUTTHAYA, THAILAND: sala ayutthaya has unveiled its stunning new Rooftop Lounge & Bar, allowing guests to chill out, sip cool drinks, savour tasty cuisine and soak up spectacular views of Ayutthaya’s ancient UNESCO World Heritage-listed landscape.

Newly opened in July 2019, the Rooftop Lounge & Bar is perched atop the sala ayutthaya eatery and bar, the hotel’s refined riverfront restaurant. In this elevated setting, guests can unwind whilst overlooking the gently idling waters of the Chao Phraya River and Ayutthaya’s enchanting temples, including Wat Phutthaisawan, which dates from the 14thCentury.

Conceived by Panorama Décor, the Thai interior design house, the Rooftop Lounge & Bar reflects a rustic-chic concept with loft-style interiors, earthy tones and vaulted ceilings. Guests can sit back on comfy sofas and armchairs as they recap their day of discovery, or gather round farmhouse tables to plan their next day of activities. The spacious interior leads out onto an elegant alfresco terrace.

A wide selection of drinks are available, including a long list of wines by the glass, premium spirits and refreshing beers. Reflecting the hotel’s focus on Thai heritage, the Rooftop Lounge & Bar will offer a collection of craft beers from the four corners of Thailand, including Red Truck from the north, Chalawan from the south, Stone Head from the northeast and Whale Pale Ale from the central region. Guests can also enjoy classic and signature cocktails, such as the Sala Mai Tai(white, dark and Thai rum with tropical fruit juices), Chao Phraya(Thai rum, citrus liqueur, lime juice, vanilla and ginger ale) and Welcome to Ayutthaya(vodka, coconut liqueur, mango juice and coconut cream) or tropical mocktails like the Lychee Lemongrass Fizz.

These thirst-quenching beverages can be combined with innovative cuisine by Chef Tee, sala ayutthaya’s head chef. Options include Thai dishes such as laab ped tord(ground duck breast with lime, chili, toasted rice and mint), moo dad diew(deep-fried pork strips with chili sauce and kaffir lime leaves) and fresh vegetable spring rolls, international appetizers like fish popcorn, chicken & avocado cones, and smoked salmon rolls, or fusion dishes such as nam tok neua tacos(Australian beef sirloin and spicy Thai sauce in taco shells) and gluay coffee tord(banana doughnuts with milk chocolate and coffee granules).

Alternatively, guests can tuck into a series of charcuterie boards, featuring the finest cold and cured meats, imported cheeses, fresh bread, preserves and more – perfect for sharing with a friend or partner along with a bottle of wine.

Chic, casual and contemporary, the Rooftop Lounge & Bar at sala ayutthaya is a great place to hang out with your loved ones, either during the day or after dark. It also provides a great venue for intimate events, private parties, residential meetings and social engagements.
