Traditional Thai noodles translates, literally, as ‘Chinese dessert’ or ‘pastry’. Certainly they are derived from Chinese rice noodles – being spaghetti-like in shape and length – but the Thai version is usually served at room temperature. Often khanom Jeen are included in celebratory meals, especially at a wedding, as noodles symbolize long life.
This dish is unique to Southern Thailand, specifically Phuket. It’s a must for anyone who has an appreciation for the flavours of Thai Cuisine.
